You get 7 conventional servo channels and 16 independent and simultaneous ON-OFF KeyKoder electronic switch channels for 23 channels total. Each of the 16 new channels switch up to 30 VDC at a substantial 5A capability to directly operate many devices even if they operate on an assortment of voltages. They may be configured for small reversing motors or with relays added to control more current and complex functions. In addition, the first 8 of the 16 KeyKoder channels coincidentally feature Servo Command Pulse outputs as a handy and familiar way to implement mechanical functions using conventional servos. Six are two-position servo outputs and two are three-position servo outputs.
Futaba's PCM1024 Pulse Code Modulation radio transmits the servo and KeyKoder commands as digital words with special mathematical properties that facilitate accurate reception and calibrated servo positions for Fail Safe operation. Unlike competitive PPM extra-channel add-ons the VANTEC system harnesses the PCM error checking to reliably pack additional controls onto one R/C servo channel. VANTEC warrantees the entire system.
To make a complete Hitchiker system VANTEC adds two devices to the Futaba set. The first is the transmitter mounted KeyPad with 16 special toggle switches that provide momentary operation like a push button by pressing down; they automatically spring back to center off; or switch them "On" continuously like a normal toggle switch by flipping them up.
The second device is a Receptor add-on box that plugs into the Futaba R/C receiver like a servo and separates the KeyPad commands back into 16 individual outputs corresponding to the transmitter KeyPad switches. The Receptor has terminal blocks and additional servo connectors for the newly added channels.
The KH716 system includes the Futaba 10C radio control set and comes with transmitter, receiver, charger and the VANTEC Hitchiker KeyKoder components. Servos are available below. |
